Harrison reports that Major Denny is purchasing flour in Pittsburgh for the army, therefore Colonel Buford should return to Kentucky to acquire clothing, ox wagons and beef cattle.

Denny (March 11, 1761-July 21, 1822) was born in Carlisle (Pa.). He served as an officer in the Indian and Revolutionary wars. In 1793 he retired as a Capt. and married. He was re-instated as Major in 1794 and put in charge of the expedition to Le Boeuf and Presque Isle. In 1816 Denny became the first mayor of Pittsburgh (Pa.).
